Woodward Park

Woodward Park is 45 acres of botanical gardens, arboretum trails, and curated green space right in the middle of midtown Tulsa, tucked along Peoria between 21st and 26th. It sits directly across from Philbrook, which means you can easily fold both into one afternoon if you're already in the neighborhood. The Tulsa Garden Center — housed in a 1919 mansion — anchors the park, and the Linnaeus Teaching Garden and azalea walk are the two areas most locals return for again and again.

This isn't a park you visit for playgrounds or pickup soccer. It's slower, quieter, more considered — the kind of place where you'll see wedding photographers working the terraces, retirees walking the loops, and neighbors from Maple Ridge and Yorktown cutting through on their morning routine. The terraced gardens and stone walls give it a formal feel you don't get at River Parks or Hunter, and the mature tree canopy makes it one of the more comfortable midtown spots to be outside once the Oklahoma heat sets in.

Expect a wandering, unstructured kind of visit. There's no admission for the grounds, and most people spend somewhere between 30 minutes and a couple of hours depending on whether they're taking the loop or settling in with a book. Spring is the marquee season, but the arboretum holds up year-round, and fall color along the upper paths is genuinely worth a trip on its own.
