The Boxyard

The Boxyard sits on East Third Street in the East Village, just off the edge of downtown proper, and it's exactly what it sounds like: a small retail and dining village stitched together from stacked shipping containers. The containers hold a mix of boutiques, a barber shop, a taco stand, and rotating pop-up tenants, so the lineup you find on one visit isn't guaranteed to be the same on the next.

The center courtyard is where it actually functions as a hangout. Communal seating, a small stage for live music, and enough open space that you can grab food from one container, a drink from another, and post up outside without committing to a full sit-down meal. It's more of a graze-and-wander stop than a destination dinner — think an hour between other things rather than the whole evening.

Location-wise, it's a useful anchor for the East Village stretch, walkable to the ballpark and the rest of downtown if you're already parked nearby. On weekends and event nights it fills up quickly; on quieter weekday afternoons you'll have the courtyard mostly to yourself, which is honestly a better way to check out the smaller boutiques without the crowd.
