A Walk Through the Arts District
Galleries, music, history, and the best creative energy in Oklahoma.
Start at Guthrie Green
Begin your walk at Guthrie Green, the urban park that anchors the southern end of the Arts District. Grab a coffee from one of the nearby cafés and get your bearings — the green space is the district's living room, and everything radiates outward from here.
The Music Corridor
Head north on Main Street toward Cain's Ballroom, passing the Woody Guthrie Center on your right. Cain's has been hosting live music since 1924 — the original spring-loaded dance floor is still under your feet. The Guthrie Center next door tells the story of Oklahoma's most famous folk musician with intelligence and heart.
Gallery Row
The galleries between Main and Boston Avenue are the heart of the Arts District. On any given day you'll find contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media — but the real magic happens on First Friday, when every gallery opens, the streets fill, and the neighborhood becomes one giant opening reception.
Dinner and Drinks
End your walk with dinner at Oren for modern Middle Eastern cuisine, then cocktails at Valkyrie or the retro-kitsch Saturn Room. If you need a nightcap, Cain's probably has a show — check the calendar.
